CNN published a record of a conversation between US President Donald Trump and former lawyer Michael Cohen about buying rights to the story of the Playboy model Karen McDougall who claimed that she had a ten-month romance with Trump 10 years ago
According to a recording of the conversation held in September 2016, Cohen suggested that Trump create a company and through it pay American Media, which planned to publish the story. The dialogue featured Trump’s words “cash”, but because of the poor quality of the recording journalists could not understand their exact meaning.
According to CNN, the record was seized in April by FBI officers during a search in Cohen’s office in the case of his involvement in banking fraud and financial irregularities revealed during Trump’s election campaign. Trump’s current lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, argues that there was a discussion about buying the rights to history, but it did not come to the real deal.
In August 2016, the company paid Playboy models 150 thousand dollars for a story about the relationship with Trump, but in the end the story was not published. A representative of the American Media holding refused to comment on the TV channel.
